Game Design

Personal Projects

Doctor Cosmic

It is a 3D cartoonish space shooter with a visual novel narrative in which the missions mainly consist of saving aliens fighting a parasite inside their bodies with a miniaturized spaceship.

I designed and developed the demo in Unreal Engine 5 on my own.

This project was a big opportunity to deal a lot with some important aspects of game development:

  • Ideation and game analysis

  • Gameplay and enemies design

  • Objectives and rewards design

  • UI and UX design

  • Narrative design

  • UE programming with Blueprints

  • 3D modeling (with Blender and UE5 Modeling Tool)

  • Assets research and creationg with AIs

For more details see the dedicated page.

Academic Team Projects

Nightmare Slayer

It is a 3D action adventure roguelite game very focused on platforming and bullet hell elements developed in about 3 months for an academic team project.

We developed it by working in a team of 6 people (3 designers and 3 programmers) and following a standard production cycle (ideation, proof of concept, beta and release).

I mainly worked as a designer but I also managed some implementations in Unity (including coding in C#) and art elements (3D models, effects, etc.):

Some major contributions were:

  • Ideation and similar game analysis

  • Pitch

  • GDD

  • Enemies (design, modeling and implementation)

  • Level Design (design and blockout in engine)

  • Progression and Economy Design

  • VFX and sounds (design, research and implementation)

For more details see the dedicated page.

Cosmic Crash

It is a 2D hypercasual game in cartoonish space theme playable on Browser in about 3 months for an academic team project.

We developed it working in a team of 5 people (2 designers and 3 programmers) following a standard production cycle (ideation, prototype, vertical slice and release).

I mainly worked as a designer but I also managed some implementations in Unity and art elements (free assets research, sprites modifications, etc.).

Some of my major contributions were:

  • Ideation

  • Pitch

  • GDD

  • Enemies

  • Progression

  • VFX and sounds (design and implementation)

  • Assets research and sprites modification

For more details see the dedicated page.

Game Jams

Pipish Pub - DBGA Game Jam 2023

It is a 2D puzzle game developed in 48 hours for a Game Jam organized by Digital Bros Game Academy.

We developed it working in a team of 5 people (me as designer and 4 programmers).

I mainly worked about:

  • Game design (mechanics, objectives, rewards, UX, etc.)

  • Tasks manager (due to the absence of a game producer)

  • Game art (free assets research, sprites modifications, animations, etc.).

Noisemaker Audition - Global Game Jam 2024

It is a comic game playable with microphone that was developed in 48 hours for the Global Game Jam 2024.

We developed it in a team of 6 people (randomly met at the event of Turin organized by IGDA Italy).

Major activities I performed:

  • Game design (mechanics, objectives, rewards, briefing writings, UX, etc.)

  • Research and adaptation of the assets (3D models, animations, etc.)

  • Worked in Unity to create levels and scenes

Prototypes and other works in game engines

Crystal Ball Escape - Prototype

I pitched and developed in Unity the prototype of a platformer game with physics-based puzzles in which the player plays as a rolling crystal ball.

Save the Ocean - Prototype

I pitched and developed in Unity the prototype of an endless runner game aimed for children in which the player plays as a submarine that has to collect trash avoiding to hurt animals.

Amnesia & Delirium - Amatorial Personal Project

It is a 2D top-down action adventure game with souls-like elements that I developed in RPG Maker XP during my free time.

Major activities needed for its developement were:

  • Game design (mechanics, objectives, rewards, UX, etc.)

  • Adaptation on some scripts

  • Coding using the RPG Maker Events system

  • Game art (free assets research, sprites modifications, animations, etc.).
